Rylan's Point of View

I saw this on someone's blog so I thought I would post it on ours...from Rylan's point of view.

I am...the cutest little boy God ever created. At least that's what my mommy says all the time.

I want...nanas (bananas) all the time!

I have...more clothes than any one little boy could ever possibly wear.

I keep...trying to climb on the arm of the couch even though my mommy has told me "no!" a hundred times.

I wish I could...run around naked all the time!

I hate...getting out of the bathtub. I could stay in there forever!

I hear...my mommy and daddy tell me how much they love me every day!

I don't think...I'll ever get tired of going to my daddy's games.

I love...giving my puppy his bone every morning!

I am not...afraid of anything. My mommy says I'm a little dare devil.

I dance...to all music. I'm a boogy machine!

I rarely...cry when I'm hurt. Mommy and daddy tell me to be tough, so I try my best.

I'm not always...patient when mommy is getting my food ready.

I'm confused about...why I can't swing my baseball bat and hit the cat.

I need...my milk! I love my milk!

The War Is Over

The war is officially over between the Salyers family and the Timmerman family. We did get beat by Rockwall Heath, but it was a much closer game that anyone expected. Keri officially has bragging rights for a year even though we secretly still think he's a lion lover! It's okay Keri...you can admit it!

Rylan enjoyed himself at the game even though he was a little fussy due to the fact that he's getting a molar. He did end up falling asleep on RoRo's shoulder by the 4th quarter, but he did wake up to see daddy after the game. He slept in until 8:15 this morning and now he's back to being his happy little self!

Watching the football boys.

The two families after the game.

Rylan had to get on the tractor again after the game.

Rylan fell asleep in the car on the way home. He usually wakes up when I have to pick him up to get him out, but not this time. I got him out of the car seat and took him into his bedroom to his changing table so I could get some PJ's on him, but he didn't budge when I put him down.

"Momma just let me sleep on the changing table tonight."

Even after changing his diaper and putting his PJ's on he's still asleep on the changing table.

Caught In The Act!!

This week Cody and I hatched the perfect (or so we thought) plan to get Keri and Natalie. This is the week that Cody's team and Keri's team play each other so our families declared war on each other earlier in the week. Natalie thought she got us good this morning by sending us a picture of Rylan where she had digitally put a shirt on him that said "Recovering Lion Fan". Little did she know what was coming tonight!! Cody and I had planned to go to their house and shoe polish Keri's Tahoe and put all kinds of Lion pictures everywhere on the Tahoe. We thought the plan would would great since they live in a house with a back alley and garage. We knew Keri didn't park in the garage so basically all we had to do was make sure Keri was home before we drove over to Rockwall. Once we were sure that Keri was home our plan went into action. We parked just outside the alley and I ran to their driveway to paint Keri's windows while Cody stayed in the car with Rylan and started taping all the other signs. We were just about done when I was making my last run to their driveway to put the last 2 signs on Keri's car when I saw the entire Timmerman family standing in the driveway looking at the Tahoe. We were caught in the act!! We all had a good laugh and I got some good pictures. Since we were caught we went inside their house and the kids all played for a while. Regardless of who wins the football game, I think it's safe to say that the Salyers family won War Week!

We love the Timmerman family and are so blessed to have such incredible friends!

Do You Know The Muffin Man That Lives On...Ashland Drive??

This afternoon Rylan and I made a trip to Wal-Mart where we got a mix for some blueberry muffins. When we got home Rylan helped me out by putting the muffin cups in the pan. We counted as he put each one in the pan. He thought he was so big sitting on the counter! He even helped me taste test the muffins when they were done. They were a big hit...with both of us!

Rough Week for Rylan

Friday night was Cody's off week so we didn't technically have to go to a football game. However, Rylan and I loaded up and headed over to Rockwall to meet up with Natalie and the kids for their game. Cody was there with his coaching staff scouting for this next week. Cody's team and Keri's team play each other this coming Friday so it is officially war week between our two families! GO LIONS!!!

In other news...Rylan had a rough week at school. He got bit by other kids every day except Friday. I'm sure he wasn't completely innocent, but I felt so bad for my little boy. None of the bites broke the skin, but he did get some bruising from them. Hopefully this will be a better, bite-free week for the little guy!

Rylan was alseep before I even got out of the parking lot at the football game Friday night.

Such a sweet little boy!

Stuck Inside

We have started getting the rain and wind from the hurricane that hit Galveston so we are stuck inside for the day. It is way too windy and the rain is coming down way too hard to go out anywhere. So, we have just been having a lazy day around the house. This is where I have to toot my own horn. I cannot remember a single day in our married life when we have eaten all 3 meals at home. I know, that is sad, but true. But, I am not much of a cook either. However, something came over me and I got the urge to grocery shop for meals last night. So, here is what I've made today...

Breakfast: Biscuits and sausage gravy
Lunch: Beef enchiladas
Dinner: Meat loaf

Plus, I made an open faced apple pie (crust from scratch I might add) for dessert. I was talking to my mom on the phone when I had to get off "to get my pie out of the oven" which is something I GUARANTEE no one has ever heard me say before. Anyway, it has been nice to eat at home and hopefully I'll make this effort to cook more often...it's actually been kind of fun!

"Ripken, look at all that rain!"

"All that rain makes me want to pee...can't you tell by the sagging diaper?"

"I'm okay as long as Ripken is with me!"

Sneak Peak

Let me first say that I am a pretty big procrastinator when it comes to certain things. However, I've found that when it comes to Rylan I am a "planner" for sure. For example, last year I got his Halloween costume at the end of August. I also started planning his birthday party when he was only 8 months old! I know, I know....you think I'm crazy. Well, now that Halloween is coming back around guess what? I already have his costume...I just got it in the mail today! I am so excited about his costume this year. A few weeks ago I was just looking at a calendar (not necessarily to see when Halloween was) and I noticed that Halloween was on a Friday night this year. Well, since Cody is a football coach that means we will be spending Halloween at a football game. That's when I got the idea...Cody's team mascot is the Lions...PERFECT, Rylan will be a lion this year! So, I spent some time looking for the cutest lion costume out there. I didn't want one of those wimpy looking lions...daddy wouldn't like that. So, I finally found the perfect lion costume and it arrived today. And, of course I couldn't resist trying it on him immediately. I'm sure I'll get lots of pictures on Halloween night, but here's a sneak peak of our little lion...ROAR!!!

Just Checking Up On Ripken Mom

If you don't already know, we have a 75 pound Boxer named Ripken (after Cal Ripken Jr. of course) and Rylan LOVES his dog. This is what I found Rylan doing in the living room yesterday evening. He was just checking up on his puppy outside...and repeatedly saying "dog" to me.

Where is my dog? I need to make sure he is okay.

Where's Rylan???

Ripken's okay mom...I checked on him.

My Daddy's Team Can Beat Your Team

Last night Cody's team had their first home game against Little Elm. We are very familiar with Little Elm since they were in district with us when Cody was at The Colony. However, Little Elm...shall we say...KILLED us last year when Cody was at TCHS. Well, things have changed now that Cody is at GHS! We beat Little Elm last night 43-7!!!

Rylan has done so good at football games this year. He basically is content to just sit in my lap and eat Cheerios while he watches the game. I think at this age he's fascinated with what's happening down on the field. Although, I don't think he quite understands why people in the stands go from sitting down and being pretty calm to jumping up and screaming. He does enjoy dancing to the band music during most of the game!

Since I have blogged about Rylan's frequent "public diaper blowouts" in places where there are no changing tables I thought I would share some exciting news...at least it's exciting for me! Are you ready for this?! The Greenville football stadium has a changing table in the women's restroom!!! So let's recap...a high school football stadium can understand the importance of the changing table but Texas Roadhouse Restaurant is apparently clueless to this need. Are you kidding me?!! Anyway, as far as I'm concerned Cody can stay at GHS as long as we have kids in diapers. Let me also say that I was so excited about this discovery last night that I think that is the first thing I said to Cody when I met him on the field afterward. What can I say...it doesn't take much to get me excited...just a decent place to change my kid's diaper!!

Highchairs Are For Babies!!

We have officially moved into the "booster seat" phase. Rylan has been wanting to be at the table with us for a few weeks now so we got him a booster seat this past weekend and he is loving life! He thinks he's so big! We've had some good snack times and meal times using his new seat.

Also, just an update about his eating...Rylan has started eating corn dogs and hamburgers. I never thought I'd see the day that I was excited about my kid eating these things, but it is a huge improvement from only eating baby food. He's also learning that I will give him a FEW fries if he eats the corn dog or hamburger first.

Playing with his puzzle at the table in his new seat.

That's right...that's corn dog nuggets he's eating! Good job Rylan!
