Daddy's a Rookie

Earlier this week Cody fed Rylan his dinner which included his cereal and carrots. This was daddy's first time to feed Rylan solid foods and as you can see by the pictures the two boys made quite a mess. Thank goodness for bath time!!

Bananas Are a Hit!

This morning Rylan got bananas fo the first time. With the first bite he froze for a few seconds and then he decided it was pretty good once he swallowed. The rest of the bowl went down in about 2 minutes. I'm feeling lucky to have a baby that isn't a picky eater...so far at least. This weekend we'll try another vegetable and hopefully be lucky with it as well.

Rylan says hi to RoRo, Papa Larry, Nonni, Papa, and Grandma T. He sends kisses your way!

And the award goes to...Cody!!

The "Best Daddy in the World" award goes to...Cody!! I just had to get on here and brag about Rylan's daddy for a minute. This week Cody is working extra long hours due to teacher in-service plus football practice. Yesterday Cody had to leave the house at 4:30am for work. He knew he wouldn't get home until 10:30pm due to a late practice. During the middle of the day Cody had a little bit of free time and he drove 45 minutes back home, picked Rylan up at the babysitter's house, spent 30 minutes with him and then drove the 45 minutes back to work. He knew Rylan would be in bed by the time he got home at 10:30 and he wanted to see his baby boy. When Cody does small things like that it just reminds me that I couldn't have asked for a better daddy for Rylan. Cody is the hardest working man I've ever known, and yet each day his desire is to get home to us as fast as he can. I love you Cody and your little boy will grow up to be an incredible man because he has you as his daddy.

Mmmmmm Carrots!!

Rylan after his first bite of carrots

After a few bites he decided it was actually pretty good

The belly is full and all is good in the world

Today was a big day for us...Rylan's first veggie!! As you can tell by the top picture he didn't quite know what to think with the first bite, but after 3-4 bites I couldn't shovel it in his mouth fast enough. Our first veggie was a success which make mommy VERY happy. I want Rylan to have a healthy diet and get started on the right foods before we ever introduce him to the wonderful world of refined sugar. Our next food introduction will be in 3 days and I haven't decided yet what it will be, but hopefully it goes as well as the carrots did!!

Shots & Cereal

The bandaids make it all better

Man this is good stuff mom

I'm getting the hang of this spoon thing

And I'm still smiling even after shots

Today Rylan went to the babysitter for the first time. I dropped him off at 8:00 and went back to get him at 12:30. Rylan was fine, but it was a long 4 1/2 hours for mom! He also went to the doctor today for his 4 month vaccinations and check-up. He weighs 15 pounds 9 ounces which puts him in the 50th-75th percentile. He is 26 1/8" long which is still above the 95th percentile. So...he is still long, but he's thinning out a lot. Also, since he is a "bigger baby" we got the OK to start him on solids. He had cereal tonight and as you can see by the pictures he loved it.

It's a Sad Day for Mommy!

I go back to work tomorrow after being home for 4 months with Rylan. This time has flown by! Rylan is actually 4 months old today and I can't believe it! It's amazing to me that the love of my life is short and bald...who would have guessed?! My little man has such a cute personality and I live to see that crooked smile when he looks at me. Tomorrow morning will be tough for me when I leave him with the babysitter, but I'll be looking forward to seeing that smile when I pick him up.

Rylan's New Favorite

As you can see by the pictures, Rylan's new favorite thing is standing in his crib. He thinks he's such a big boy when he does it and he gets the biggest smile on his face. These pictures were taken this morning and we spent about 30 minutes in his room doing this. Everytime I tried to pick him up and take him back to the living room he started crying. I kept thinking surely he would get tired of standing, but he never did. Where did my little baby go??

Football Widow

It's officially that time of year again...high school football season. It basically means Cody starts working AT LEAST 12 hour days and I become a "football widow" until November. However, I am definitely looking forward to taking Rylan to his first Texas high school football game.

I am loving these last few weeks before I go back to work. It's just me and Rylan during the day and we have a blast. His Daddy sure does miss him during the day, but he makes up for it at night. He's been giving Rylan his bath and putting him to bed so he can spend some quality time with him in the evenings. It also gives me a break which is nice.
