Some Halloween Fun

After 24 hours on his antibiotic, Rylan started feeling a lot better so we decided to do something fun. We went to Wal-Mart and got a do-it-yourself Halloween Haunted House kit. He had a good time with the orange icing as you can see by the pictures. I chose to skip the black icing since I saw the mess black icing could make from his birthday cake. He had so much fun sticking all the candies on the house...and painting his body with icing. He never even tried to taste the icing either.

What A Week!

Wednesday night Rylan's school had their fall carnival from 7:30-9:00. The kids were suppose to come dressed in their costumes. Of course I was more than excited to get Rylan dressed in his lion suit for the carnival. Rylan had a great time playing games. He got some candy as prizes but of course he had no idea what it was so he just gladly handed it over to Cody. Rylan's costume was a hit! Everyone kept commenting on how cute the little lion was. It really was a fun night.

Now for the not so good part of the week...Thursday when I picked Rylan up at his school I noticed he felt a little warm. However, he was still his happy little self so I didn't think much of it. Then, at dinner he didn't really want to eat. Instead, he just put his head down on the table. When I picked him up from the table I noticed that he felt very warm. I took his temperature and it was 102.6. I gave him some Tylenol and put him to bed. We made the decision that Cody would stay home with him today since he obviously didn't need to go to school. Well, all day he has still had fever so I told Cody to take him in to Dr. Lanman...have I mentioned Cody is the best daddy ever?! Well, Cody called me at 2:30 after seeing the doctor to tell me that Rylan tested positive for Strep. Ugh...not again! This is the third time Rylan has tested positive for Strep. Plus, taking an antibiotic for Strep in the past resulted in him getting C.Diff. I know he has to have an antibiotic to get rid of the Strep, but now I am nervous about the real possibility that he can get C. Diff again in a month or so as a result of taking the Augmentin. He is currently still on a probiotic in an attempt to totally clear up the C. Diff from before. Obviously we aren't going to Cody's game tonight, but he understands. Hopefully Rylan will be feeling better within 24 hours and we can just have a relaxing family weekend here at the house.

My 7 Random Things

Valerie tagged me to write 7 random things about myself that most people probably don't know. So here we go...

1. When I was little (I'm guessing maybe 5-6 years old) I drew an anatomically correct stick figure of Jesus on the cross. My Meme proudly displayed this picture on her refrigerator for years.

2. I think some family members know this one, but a while back I actually had to wear a pair of Cody's underwear to bed. I hadn't done laundry and when I got out of the shower I realized I didn't have 1 single pair of clean panties. So I did the only thing I could think to do...I grabbed my husband's clean tighty whitey's and went to bed.

3. I cannot sleep on the side of the bed closest to the window. No matter where we are (hotel, home, relative's house) I make Cody sleep on the side of the bed by the window. I don't know why but it freaks me out to be next to a window while I sleep.

4. When I was little I would put stickers on my mom's butt while we shopped in the grocery store. For example I would take a stickers that said "picked fresh" or "100% lean beef" off the fruits and meats and stick them on her butt. I usually told her they were there when we got to the car.

5. Since I am a nurse vomit doesn't bother me at all. In fact, some days I eat my lunch at my desk while kids are vomiting next to me in my clinic.

6. My belly button looks like a butt...no lie! It has a crack and everything.

7. I absolutely cannot sit down on a public toilet seat. I have perfected the "hover" while using a public restroom.

Pumpkin Painting

This weekend we got Rylan a pumpkin. I originally thought he would like to pull all the seeds out of the inside. However, he wasn't to sure about sticking his arm into the pumpkin so we went to plan #2 which was to paint the pumpkin.

Getting ready!

What's more fun that sticking your fingers in paint?!

He takes his job of pumpkin painting very serious as you can see.

I think this little pumpkin painting project turned into a body painting party.

Overalls and Pumpkins

RoRo and Nonni came into town Friday afternoon and we all headed to Cody's homecoming game that night. On Saturday morning we all got ready and went to Owen's Farm. We fed goats in the petting zoo, went on a hay ride, rode the train, and ran around the pumpkin patch. And of course I dressed him in overalls just as I did last year. I guess going to Owens Farm with Rylan in his overalls is kind of becoming a family tradition for us! We all had a great time and Rylan had a blast running through the pumpkins!

Getting ready for the train ride

Here we go...choo choo!!

"Oh, I like this one!"

"How many more pictures are we going to take?"

"Hey wait a minute...wasn't I for sale last year too?"

Saturday With The Salyers

We've been in a rut as far as finding new, fun stuff for Rylan to do around the house on the weekends. So, last night Rylan and I went to Wal-Mart to get some fun craft stuff. We got finger paints and paper, and we also got food coloring and rotini noodles to dye fun colors. Here are some pictures of Rylan having a blast with some of his new stuff.

Painting with daddy

"Hmmm, which color should I use?"

Making his first masterpiece!

"I have no idea how the paint got on my face and in my hair momma...honest!"

I think daddy had fun painting too!

"This is so much fun!"

Our colored rotini noodles.

On a side note...When Rylan and I went to Wal-Mart last night he found this visor that he grabbed. It was $.78 so I was willing to pay $.78 to keep him entertained while we shopped. However, there is only one word to describe this visor...GAY, GAY, GAY!!! It is made of foam and he loves wearing it around the house. Notice I said house...he WILL NOT be wearing this in public. Cody calls the above picture his gay gardener look.

Every Man Needs A Throne

Lately Rylan has started HATING his dirty diapers. The wet ones don't bother him so much, but the minute he poops, he wants out of the diaper. My plan is to really start working on Rylan's potty training during our long Christmas break. I realize since I work, it will most likely be this summer before he is completely potty trained. However, Rylan has really been showing an interest in sitting on the potty. So, before his bath tonight I pulled out his potty seat that Uncle Randy and Aunt Jen got for him and you would have thought I just gave him the world's greatest toy! He LOVED sitting on the potty. Plus, he even tinkled a little bit! I cheered for him and even did a "good potty dance" which he thought was hilarious! He sat on the potty for a good 10-15 minutes and he started crying when I made him get off. Anyway, I guess for now I will start putting Rylan on his little seat each night before his bath and we'll keep our fingers crossed that his potty training will go smoothly.

We've Got A Hungry Piggy At Our House!

We really don't have any exciting family news to share. I just wanted to post these pictures of Rylan "feeding" his piggy some money. This has become one of his new favorite things to do. He has a very hungry piggy who is helping lighten the load of momma's wallet.
