Since Rylan is starting his new "school" this year he has to have a nap mat. I searched and searched for the perfect nap mat and I finally came across the Custom Baby Boutique website and fell in love with the nap mats they made. I got Rylan a baseball nap mat and it arrived yesterday. I couldn't be happier with it! When I got it out of the box Rylan wanted to check it out so I unrolled the mat and put it on the floor in the living room. He LOVED it!! He spent about 30 minutes on it just looking at books and playing with a few of his toys.

Water Baby
Since Cody and Keri are in San Antonio for coaching school, Natalie and I decided to take the kids to Surf and Swim to stay cool in the Texas heat. We had so much fun and Rylan LOVED the water! He even liked the wave pool. Several times he put his whole face in the water and then he came up laughing and wiping his eyes. It was a great way to spend the day outside and beat the heat. We are sooo ready for Winter here!
Okay, so I need to explain the socks because let's face it...that is a HORRIBLE fashion statement. Those socks are called "Block the Burn" socks. They allow kids to walk on hot pavement without their feet burning. I am so glad we had these today because the pavement was definitely too hot for him. I think I was more embarrassed by this fashion faux pas than he was.

The picture doesn't show it, but he is letting the sprinklers above him rain down over his head.

A Little Rylan and Momma Time
Cody left Sunday morning to go to San Antonio for coaching school and he won't be back until Thursday afternoon sometime. Let me first say that we miss daddy SO much!! It's just not the same without him here, and Rylan sure misses having his bedtime routine with daddy. However, Rylan and I have had a blast the past two days. We have played INSIDE with the dog, blown bubbles, made Play-Doh shapes, and had some marathon naps. It has been 105-107 degrees here the past few days so it has made it pretty hard to do much outside. We are definitely ready to see daddy and have him back home!

What A Fun Weekend!
We had such a fun weekend. First of all, Cody got the entire weekend (Friday included) off work. We met up with my family that was in town on Friday at the Stockyards and again on Saturday at my cousins baseball game. We all headed to Babe's to eat after the game and Rylan had a blast with Trey. Today, daddy had the great idea to go to Gatti Town for some Pizza and games. It was so fun to have the whole weekend with daddy!

Ride 'Em Cowboy!
Today we took Rylan to Billy Bob's Texas and to his first cattle drive in the stockyards. We met up with my aunt, my grandmother, and several cousins who were in town and wanted to see the Fort Worth attractions. So, we couldn't resist getting Rylan's picture taken on the bull inside Billy Bob's. These aren't the best quality pictures, but I still had to share them.

Rylan's 15 Month Checkup
Rylan went in this morning to see Dr. Lanman for his 15 month checkup. He also got one shot today which he didn't like AT ALL, but he got over it really fast. It's amazing how bandaids can make everything better. So, here are Rylan's 15 month stats:
Height: 32 1/4 inches (75-90 percentile)
Weight: 22 pounds (10-25 percentile)

Pool Party At Rylan's House
Well, Cody officially starts football meetings bright and early tomorrow morning so we needed to have one good cookout with the Timmermans before all the football madness begins for Cody and Keri. After we ate dinner Cody filled up the pools and the 3 kids had a blast in the water. We love having such good friends close by and it seems like our kids are basically growing up like siblings. After the swim party we put the kids to bed and the 4 adults had some fun playing the Wii. Natalie and I played a mean game of tennis (sorry for the punch to the back Nat) and Cody and Keri enjoyed their Tiger Woods golf game. However, now it's football time and we won't see the Timmermans quite as much with the hectic schedules, but there will be a good Friday night showdown later in the season when Cody and Keri's high schools match up for a football game...Go Lions!!

One Year Anniversary
It's my Anniversary! No, it's not my wedding anniversary (although Cody is welcome to get me a present anyway) but it is my 1 year blogging anniversary. I got "talked into" doing this blog by Kim W. and I had no idea how addicted I would get. I have had so much fun posting pictures of Rylan during his first year and I know our family (especially Grandma T) and friends have enjoyed seeing our little family grow up. I'm sure I will keep this up for a long, long time! Who knows, I may still be blogging about Rylan when he is 40 years old!
How many Salyers men does it take to blow up a kiddie pool? That is the question of the day.

Rylan loved his new pool and Ripken enjoyed the sprinkler feature which made it easy for him to get a drink.
Having a blast in his pool. By the way, it was 103 degrees here today so I'm sure this felt so good to him.
Hanging out on the swing with Nonni and Papa.
So I have started to let Rylan run around naked after his bath at night because the baby LOVES it when he doesn't have a diaper on. Well, tonight he was having a great time being naked in the living room, but then nature called and he squatted right in the middle of the floor. Luckily, I made it in under the action with some paper towel just in time. Needless to say, "naked time" was over at that point. It made for a good laugh though!

Cute Pictures
These are completely random pictures from the day. I find myself laughing so much during the day because he does the funniest things.
Let me first say that he is not wearing a "leash" in this picture. I prefer to call it his "safety walking harness" instead. Okay, okay...so it's a glorified leash, but he loves it and we needed it. He is at that stage where he likes to be out of the stroller and walking, but he doesn't understand that he has to stay close to us. Plus, I'm one of those mothers that freaks out about him walking in crowds. I just got it a few days ago and we have yet to use it in public, but he always wants me to put in on him in the house. He usually holds onto the monkey's tail as if he's walking himself.
This is Rylan's infant swing that we stopped using when he was about 4-5 months old. It has just been sitting in the corner of his playroom and he has always just walked right by it. Well, today I saw him walk into his room and pull his froggy through his crib slats, walk back into the playroom, and crawl up in the swing. He probably stayed there "resting" for about 10-15 minutes. I love the look on his face in the picture.

He had put daddy's hat on and was telling the cat bye-bye. Every time Cody puts his hat on it means we are about to leave so I guess he has picked up on this.

Like Mother, Like Son
My mom has always told the stories about me putting myself down for a nap as a baby. She says she would often find me asleep on my bedroom floor at the foot of my crib with my blanket. If I got sleepy I would just crawl into my room and go to sleep. To this day I still LOVE my naps! You give me a comfortable couch and a soft blanket and I will be asleep in less than 2 minutes. Well, I have been lucky enough to have a baby that also loves to sleep. He goes down every night at 7:30 and he sleeps until 8:00 each morning. Plus, he still takes at least one 2-3 hour nap a day. Today though, Rylan proved he is more like his momma than we thought. I was doing a few things in the kitchen when I realized the house was quiet and I didn't hear him anywhere. When I went looking for him this is what I found...

Rylan's Fun Weekend With RoRo
My mom (RoRo) came to spend the weekend with us. Rylan had tons of fun with his RoRo. They played with his Play-Doh together, she took him on a walk in his red car, and she even stayed with him Saturday night while Cody and I went out to dinner together. On Friday night she made us a homemade dinner of beef stroganoff, noodles, salad, corn, watermelon, and brownie sundaes for dessert. It tasted so good after eating at the Baylor cafeteria all week at FCA camp. Thanks RoRo for a fun weekend and we love you! Now we're looking forward to a fun weekend with Nonni and Papa whenever they can make it down again!

My Daddy Has Big News!!
We have had a crazy, eventful week. We left last Sunday for Waco where Cody worked the baseball FCA camp. The Timmerman's were also there with us so we got the chance to hang out with some of our best friends for an entire week! While Keri and Cody were off coaching Natalie and I spent some quality time with Addie, Rylan, and Doak. We took the kids to the zoo, the children's museum, and even to see the Baylor Bears. We also found time to sneak in some much needed naps...for the kids AND us! It was a great mini vacation and we had a blast!
However, even though we had so much fun at Baylor, there was something that happened while we were there that really made the week GREAT! On Tuesday afternoon Cody got a call from the Greenville High School Athletic Director who offered him the HEAD (yes I said HEAD) baseball job at GHS!! So Rylan is proud to announce that his daddy is now a head baseball coach at a 4A high school!!! We're so excited for daddy and we know he will be the best head baseball coach ever...and we'll be there at all the games to cheer him on! And, once again we have been shown that God's plan is perfect. Greenville is just 35 minutes from the house so I can keep my job here and we don't have to sell the house!! Now we just can't wait until baseball season!

Walking around Baylor with Miss Addie and daddy
Rylan had a great time at the zoo and he especially liked it when I parked his stroller in front of the glass aquarium.
So tired after all our fun!
I couldn't resist this photo opportunity. They'll be a day when he's too big to do this.
Rylan wanted me to put his socks on his hands and as you can tell he thought it was so funny.
